Sometimes it is necessary to search a string field, or check for a certain value in a string field. In the below statement, the field [Name] is searched for "Sanders & Son Auto" and a 1 is returned if [Name] is equal to that value, and 0 otherwise.
However, sometimes the value we're searching for contains an apostrophe, which can be confusing, since a static string is designated by apostrophes. Simply searching for the string with the single apostrophe in the statement is invalid.
The correct formatting for this instance is two apostrophes (not double quotes, but two apostrophes!). This is an escaped apostrophe, and is not considered an end to the string, but an apostrophe inside the string.
In the above statement, "Jim''s Auto" effectively evaluates to "Jim's Auto".
