If you encounter an Issue connecting to SalesForce, tables not populating in the Add tables window, or other errors, please check the following:
-
Edition
As mentioned in the documentation, you have to have an ‘Enterprise’ edition or above (‘Unlimited’ or ‘Performance’) in order to connect to SalesForce externally. To see what edition you are using, hover over your SalesForce tab in your browser:
- Authentication
Make sure your credentials and security token are valid. To generate your security token, click on your profile drop-down menu and choose ‘setup’
then ‘Reset your Security token’
A new security Token will be sent to your registered e-mail. You can also re-generate it multiple times.
3. API access for your profile:
Go to your Personal information, and click on your profile
-
If you don’t have privileges to see the page, please ask you SalesForce Administrator for assistance.
In the Administrative permissions, make sure you have ‘API Enabled’ checked:
Depending on your ‘enhanced user interface’ settings, the above configuration can be seen also this way:
4. Object Permissions:
In order to access and import the different tables within SalesForce, you will have to have read permission on each of their required object (if you don’t have read permissions on these objects, you will not have access from SFDC as well)
If you are not the Admin of the account, please ask your Admin for assistance.
Go to ‘Standard Object permissions’ - and check your user has read permissions on all required objects:
5. TLS 1.1 Build/Connection Error
Error message: "UNSUPPORTED_CLIENT: TLS 1.0 has been disabled in this organization. Please use TLS 1.1 or higher when connecting to Salesforce using https."
