Share Dashboards without Sending Emails
AnsweredHow can I share dashboards without sending an email to viewers? The idea is that if I have five dashboards to share, I don't want 5 emails going out to the viewer. I would rather manually send one email letting the viewer know I have made dashboards available.

Omer correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't they still get a "dashboard has been shared with you email" using your proposed solution the first time they add them? I believe your solution would be to fix sending published report but they would still get an initial email saying they have been added to the dashboard.

This feature would be very very helpful to us as well. We have had an increasing number of requests to turn off any emails that don't actually have content (i.e share notifications). Turning off email system-wide isn't a practical solution for us b/c sharers of dashboards do not have access to this switch, and flipping it would in any case impact many others using the system who may be trying to receive a scheduled report at that time. I think a fairly innocuous way of implementing this would be to have more granular switches at the Admin level (turn off scheduled reports, turn off notifications emails, etc.)

There is a way around this but it involves mucking around with the files for the email templates as described in the post linked below. My main concern is that this is going to be reverted with each upgrade as the new files are replaced.

I tried the work around. What I found on version 7.1.3 is if you remove the user_created files, when you create a new user through the web interface, it will freeze up - almost as if it is trying to send the email but cant. The user does get created, but you have refresh to get rid of the create user window.
