- Please share about your team and your role at Sisense? What do you like the most about your role?
I’m a Technical Solutions Consultant on the Customer Success team. What I enjoy most about the role is gaining a familiarity with many different industries and companies. Because Sisense is a full-stack solution and I’m involved with each stage of the client implementation process, I get to work with various teams in each of those companies, including IT, data modeling, business intelligence, and engineering teams.
- Please share an interesting project you’ve worked on:
I like projects, where in order to solve a problem, I need to think outside of the box. As a Technical Solution Consultant, I have the chance to help clients, by working together with them, to find creative solutions to their needs. One project, especially comes to mind, when together with the customer, we built a dynamic dashboard that allowed him to add data points on demand. We did this by combining a few existing plugins and new scripts together. It was amazing to see how at first it seemed like “mission impossible”, but with some creativity, we were able to leverage Sisense’s extensibility and customize it to serve a particular need.
- You’ve been very active in the community in the past few months, answering questions and sharing your expertise with the members. What motivates you?
I like the idea of having a place where people can come and share insights and best practices. There is so much to learn from each other and we all can contribute in some way. My role allows me to learn new things every day and I’m happy to share my experience with the community. By sharing it here, I help not only the person who asked the question, but also many more who are looking for a solution to the same problem.
- How did you get into data?
In college, I majored in Economics and Business Management, and also took a few courses in Engineering, where I was introduced to programming. I discovered how much value you can gain from combining the two fields. So after graduation, I began working at a data research start-up that was part of the Nielsen Company Start-Up incubator. During my time there, I was exposed to the industry and became intrigued by the world of data and the business problems it can solve.
- Tell us an interesting story about yourself, something that people will be surprised to learn about you.
I was born in a religious kibbutz (a communal living type of neighborhood/community) in the North of Israel, where my parents made Aliyah to from America. Two of my jobs were waking up at 4am to fish in our man-made fish ponds, and also to milk cows that we raised in the kibbutz.
Oxana: This is awesome!
- I imagine, working at Sisense and helping the community is not the only thing you do. What is your ideal vacation destination and why?
Thailand! My friends and I visited Thailand in 2013 and fell in love with this country and its unique culture, people, and food. During our time there, we went hiking, explored the jungles, and of course spent a lot of time at the beach. Koh Kradan is by far my favorite island in Thailand. There, I discovered the most refreshing cocktail, a mix of coconut juice, slices of fresh mango, lime, pineapple, and a “drop” of vodka. Try it, when you are in Thailand, you will thank me later!
- What’s your favorite TED talk?
Not an easy question. There are so many! If I need to choose one, I would go with The Paradox of Choice by Barry Schwartz. In this talk, Dr. Schwartz talks about the freedom of choice in the modern world and discusses the impact it has on us, as human beings and the society as a whole.
