Download: Input Text Parameter
With this widget you will be able to create an input text in the main dashboard area (instead of on the right bar as usual), and enter there numeric values that can be used as parameters that affect measures in the dashboard.
As of today, parameters were limited to values previously entered in a table on the Elasticube, with the table containing those values linked to the table that holds the field to be affected by the value chosen in the dashboard. This widget allows to affect not only fields, but also measures created on the dashboard and does not require linking of tables and therefore can affect measures based on more than one field at a time.
The description below is relevant to Sisense 5.7.7 (still in beta), mainly due to the fact that it allows for operating between unconnected tables. The input text parameter functionality can also be achieved in Sisense 5.7.6 by connecting the "parameter table" to the fact table(s).
a. Download Sisense beta version 5.7.7.
b. Download the zip file "angularInputTextWidget.zip" and unzip it in C:\Program Files\Sisense\PrismWeb\plugins. If you are using version 7.2 and higher unzip the contents into your C:\Program Files\Sisense\app\plugins\ folder.
Create a new custom table with at least 1 value - you can either create it as a custom SQL expression, or upload a csv file with one value. For the purpose of this example, you can call the field "parameter" and the table "custom parameter"
In Sisense 5.7.7 there is no need to connect the table. See the screenshot below for reference:
a. In the dashboard that you want, add a new input text widget together. In the Items section, choose the field "parameter" from the custom table "custom parameter" that you created.
b. Add a new filter on the right bar and choose the field "parameter". Make sure to choose the tab "values" and the option "equal to" in the "keep items" drop down.
c. To apply the parameter to a measure, in our example to multiply the number of orders in each county by the parameter, create a new column in a pivot table with the count of order ids multiplied by the parameter. Add the "parameter" field in the custom formula and click on "rename" and add the '@' sign at the beginning of the measure and the '.value' to make it read as follows:
See the screenshot below for reference.
That's it. You should be able to enter numeric values on the input text widget and press the key "enter" to make it affect the table or other widgets.
