The Measure Changer Widget
Download: Measure Changer
Introduction
Dimension Changer Widget Plugin allows the user to display several values on one widget with easy values switching on the same chart visualization.
The purpose is to display several related values in one chart in a simple and easy way.
The Dimension Changer Widget Plugin can be used in Column Chart, Pie Chart, Bar Chart, Line Chart and Pivot.
Important: The Dimension Changer Widget Plugin does not support ranking filter (Top x).
The Dimension Changer Widget Plugin works on V5.7. and up.
Example
In this example we choose 3 values to switch between in the Dimension Changer Widget Plugin.
Above we see the Dimension Changer Widget and below we see the Column chart it affects.
The data presentation in the chart below changes according to the value chosen in the Dimension Changer Widget above. You can see the chosen value marked in green.
In this example we see that clicking on a value changes the data visualization in the graph - from Total revenues to Total Quantity.
Steps
In order to add the Dimension Changer Widget Plugin to affect a chart, please follow the listed steps below:
Step 1:
Download and extract the enclosed folder into the plugins folder:
C:\Program Files\Sisense\PrismWeb\plugins\DimensionChanger, if the "plugins" folder is not there, please create it. If you are using version 7.2 and higher unzip the contents into your C:\Program Files\Sisense\app\plugins\ folder.
Step 2:
Create a Column Chart/ Bar Chart/ Line Chart/ Pivot.
The Dimension Changer Widget Plugin supports more than one chart value (but affects only one).
Step 3:
Create a Dimension Changer
For Charts:
Put the values you wish to display and change between them under value.
The first value will appear first in the chart. Leave Rows empty.
For Pivots:
Put the rows you wish to display and change between them under rows.
The first row will appear first in the chart. Leave Values empty.
Save the widget.
Step 4:
Refresh the Widget and click apply
The chart should appear with the Plot Line chosen and configuration.
Attached is an example for a dashboard with Dimension Changer Widget Plugin. (connects to Sample Ecommerce data).

Any ideas on how to make this work for the 'break by / color' of a Scatter Chart? It appears that the element must be something different than the label, because attempting to use this as the paneltochange option fails with a browser error:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'items' of undefined
It works perfectly for the 'point' element, but not 'break by / color'. Thanks!

I installed the plugin, but I’m not able to get the Dimension Changer widget to work. I am currently on version 7.2 of Sisense. I am using the below script for the dimension changer widget (screenshot #1).
In my case when I switch to a different value from the dimension changer widget it creates a duplicate of the value I just selected (screenshots #2) and nothing happens with the Column Chart.
Am I missing something to get the dimension changer to work properly?

Thank you for providing this plugin. Just downloaded it and setup three dimensions offering alternating views for four Bar and Column charts on my dashboard. Loving how smoothly it works, however, running into these issues if someone can help ?
1. Can’t set Chart Bar Values %, $ and number formatting per dimension.
2. Chart’s Bar Values SORT DESC doesn’t stay .
3. Bar Chart’s Auto Zoom settings doesn’t stay.PS: Omer’s suggestion from January 04, 2017 05:25 in the thread didn’t work out.
TIA

@An Y,
Generally, you can achieve what you're looking for by modifying the "changeDimension(element)" function (located in the widget.js file).
It requires some playing around to achieve what you want, ping me if you need any help.

Hi everybody,
I cannot make it work, probably I've done something wrong or I skip a step.
I do not understand how I create a "connection" between the changer widget and the column chart.
I mean, I create a column chart with some values like count(orders) and count(customers), then I want to display them throught the changer, so I create a new widget that is a dimension changer and I put the same values in it.
Now how can I connect the two widgets? Am I doing something wrong?Sorry if it is a commonplace question.
Best regards,
Antonio -
Hi Michael,
thanks for your reply.
I added the widgets but they continue to show only their on values, they don't become one single widget that can be navigated through Dimension Changer Widget.
I also looked at the example dashboard but I am still confused about how this works, maybe I don't have to create the values in the column charts?Best regards,
Antonio

Hi,
Is it possible to choose which formula to use in "Values" section for a Pivot widget based on which "Rows" value we are selecting from the Dimension Changer? We are switching between Year, Quarter and Month and need to use GrowthPastYear, GrowthPastQuarter and GrowthPastMonth function depending on which value we are choosing. Is anyone aware if we can achieve it with this plugin.
Thanks

The Measure/Dimension Changer plug in can also be configured to change dimensions (categories, break by) on a widget.
To configure the Measure/Dimension Changer after downloading the plug in to the plugins folder:
Step 1: Create a Dimension Changer Widget.
Step 2: Add the Categories/Break By Fields that you want to toggle in the affected charts on the Rows panel. Select the widgets affected by the dimension changes under the Design tab and define Panel to Change: Categories or the relevant panel for your chart type.
Step 3: The Measure/Dimension changer widget can now change the dimensions of the charts associated with the plug in widget:

Hi,
This looks like a great plugin and i would be very happy to make use of it. I installed it but still cannot see the dimension changer in the widget list. It seems that the version we are using doesn't support the plugin (we are currently on the 8.1.3.10037 version). Can anything be done to make it work on 8.1 version?
