Data Dictionary
Download: Data Dictionary
Introduction
Having a centralized place to keep track of the tables and fields in an ElastiCube is useful for many reasons, including version control, design, information sharing, etc. The data dictionary plugin gives a single place to see all the tables and fields of an ElastiCube.
Purpose/Benefits
The data dictionary is a single place to research all the ElastiCubes' metadata.
Example
A link will be created in the header of Sisense.
That link will bring you to this page. You will need to select the server and the Elasticube you like. From there you can download the data to a CSV.
Steps
You will need to have previously implemented the 'Additional Links' plugin here. Download the attachment and unzip the contents into your C:\Program Files\Sisense\PrismWeb\Resources\ folder. After those files have been unzipped there, you may also have to restart the web server.

Hi Everyone.
Sisense is working on a Productized solution to expose the data dictionary functionality to additional user types in an upcoming version. We will be sure to keep you posted on the timeline of this important feature as development continues.
Best,
Jason

Hi Douglas,
I am on version 6.2.2.35, and I am able to select the 'localhost' server (it is the only option), and the cube that I would like to see the data for. This returns the Created date, and the last built date.
I do not see the fields in my elasticube though. Instead I see: "Note: The 'undefined' rows are joins in the ElastoCube".
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

@David, The list is exportable. The download button is at the top left of the page next to the words 'Data Dictionary'.
@Frank, unfortunately this is currently unavailable. The page is based on the API's and that is not part of the information that is available. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi All,
In v7.2 we released the ability to create Data Dictionaries, providing you greater flexibility and improved ease-of-use when modeling your data, you can now tag your data and add descriptions to it.
For more information, please refer to our documentation .

Hi Alon,
will the descriptions and tags be part of the REST API anytime soon. We want to make Sisense Elasticubes to be the Single-Source-Of-Truth regarding definitions for metrics and dimension but would like to avoid maintaining the dictionary via web frontend.
FYI - I also already created a ticket for this.
Best,
Matthias

Back on September 17, 2018 you had posted that Sisense is working on a Productized solution to expose the data dictionary functionality to additional user types in an upcoming version. Is there any update on it or document that we can reference to get it enabled?
Thanks,
- Dennis Gerads

Thanks Jason. I reviewed that document on what was done and that just expanded what you can all enter into Sisense for the Data Dictionary. But there's still no way for users (non-admin) to interactively access the Data Dictionary. We'll look to see what the API can provide and maybe export it and use some other reporting tool for them. Is there any timeline when this Plug-in will updated to work with 7.4 and non-admin users?
Thanks everyone,
- Dennis
